Install Android 5.0 Lollipop Preview on Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 devices, Step by step guide to Install Android 5.0 Lollipop on Nexus 5 and 7!!

You must have heard about recently announced final version of Android 5.0 Lollipop. The latest Android 5.0 comes with several distinctive features and advanced settings, this is the main reason all the Nexus users are very excited to install this new OS on their Nexus devices.


If you own Nexus 5 or Nexus 7 2013 device then you can also test the new Android 5.0 Lollipop Preview on your Nexus device. To install Android 5.0 Lollipop on your Nexus device, you haven't to do any complex setup. Only, you will have to use ADB files and the Preview images in this process.

How to Install Android 5.0 Lollipop on Nexus 5 & Nexus 7

In today's guide, i will show you how you can install android 5.0 lollipop on nexus 5 or nexus 7 2013. Let's see the below explained step by step tutorial:

Important Note: Before following the below mentioned guide take the full backup of you smartphone and save it in safe place. It will help you when needed.

Install Android 5.0 Lollipop on Nexus 5 & Nexus 7

Step (1): At first, download the ADB files on your PC and extract the downloaded folder on your desktop.

Step (2): After that download the Android 5.0 Lollipop Preview for Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 from the below given download Links: 
If you want install android 5.0 lollipop on nexus 5 then extract its tgz file, or if  you want install android 5.0 lollipop on Nexus 7 2013 then extract its tgz file on your desktop also. 

Step (3): Now copy all the files available in tgz extracted folder and paste them into the ADB folder which you have extracted in Step (1).

Step (4): Next, enable the USB debugging mode on your Nexus device. To do this, visit to Settings app and scroll down to select About phone option. Select the option of Build number and tap it 7 times. It will unhide the developer options, from the Developer options menu, enable USB debugging.

Step (5): After that, connect your Nexus device to the PC through USB cable.

Step (6): Once the device is connected with PC, open a command prompt window on the ADB folder. To do this, hold Shift button and make a Right click on the White space of the ADB folder and click on the option of “Open Command Window here”.

Step (7): Inside the command prompt window, enter the following command:

fastboot devices

This command will show you the list of connected devices. If you are being able to see your phone's serial number then you may continue. In case, your phone is NOT listed in the list it means your drivers are not installed properly.

Step (8): Now unlock the bootloader with the following command:

fastboot oem unlock

[Please keep in mind: If you have already unlocked the bootloader then skip this step and jump to the Step (9)]


Step (9): Next, run the following command to boot your Nexus device in fastboot mode:

adb reboot bootloader

Step (10): As you entered the above command, you device went in Fastboot mode. Now go to the ADB folder (extracted in step 1) and simply click on the “flash-all” file to start the installation procedure.

Step (11): Just after the click, the installation process will begin. You will see alternating downloading, writing, erasing etc on your device’s screen as shown in below screenshot:

Step (12): When the installation is completed, your Nexus device will reboot. Now you can disconnect your phone from the PC.

After reboot, you will see that your Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 device is running on the Android 5.0 Lollipop Preview. Congratulation! Now you can start enjoying all the exclusive features of Android Lollipop on your Nexus device.
