By
As we all know and also I have shared with you in previous Article that Microsoft has formally introduced(See here) the preview version of Windows 8.1 on 26 June and now the update is obtainable as a free download for all the users of Windows 8. See:How to Download Windows 8.1 Immediately.

Installation process of Windows 8.1
When you will be ready to install Windows 8.1 on your Windows 8 computer system then you will have to follow three steps for the installation.

You should perceive it carefully, when the final version of Windows 8.1 will be obtainable then you will have to reinstall all the old software apps for modernize final version of Windows 8.1. And you will find after doing this process successfully that your all documents and files has secured.

Steps are given below:

  • (1) Firstly you have to Download this patch (~10 MB) and run the .exe file.
  • (2) After that Restart the computer and then you’ll get a hint to download the updated version of Windows 8.1 from the Windows Store.
  • (3) Now go for the Windows Store app and download the upgraded Windows 8.1 (1.5 GB). The installation process of Windows 8.1 would be complete by follow the wizard.

Issues with Windows 8.1 during Installation
During the downloading the Windows 8.1 upgrade If you phasing issues, then make sure that the system language is set to US (English) of your surviving Windows 8 installation.  Open the command prompt in elevated mode and perform data entry of the following command:

    dism /online /get-intl

Hints for elevated mode: (you will have search for “command” in the Charms menu, and right-click on Command Prompt icon and select Run as Administrator).

When you will use this command then will able to see the base language of your Windows 8 (as en-US).

And if you want to replace to a different language in Windows 8, then just open the Control Panel and search for “language.” and now select to “Add a Language”, open the “English” group and select US from the list (see how-to Personalize your PC).

Here a important thing is that that Microsoft doesn’t approve shrinking the primary language for installing Windows 8.1 and particularly when you are running the RT version of Windows 8.

Error “The update is not applicable to your computer”
The patch file is also a larger issue with installing Windows 8.1.  As when you will try to run the .exe  then it may appear an error like “The update is not applicable to your computer.”

The error may appear, even while your computer’s configuration matching the system needs of Windows 8.1.  For this condition, there is a simple fix available for solve this common error.

(1) Firstly Create a new folder in your c: drive (say temp) and save this given file (Windows8-RT-KB2849636-x86.msu) to your recently created c:\temp folder.

(2) Now go for the command prompt as an administrator and switch to the c:\temp folder.

    cd c:\temp [Enter]

(3) Next command should be inside the temp folder to unachieved the patch:

     Expand –F:* Windows8-RT-KB2849636-x86.msu.

(4) Here you’ll find a complete pack of new files in your temp directory. Now type the following below given command to install the Windows 8.l patch:

  DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:Windows8-RT-KB2849636-x64.cab

The command prompt will send alert you “processing 1 of 1? and, after a while, prompt will say to restart the computer. Now Type “y” (without quotes) and the patch will be installed.

And when the system restarts, you’ll be asked to download the Windows 8.1 upgrade from the Windows Store.  Luck by chance it may be, the installer will download in the background else, like many others users, you may get another error like “The Windows 8.1 Preview isn’t available right now. Please try again later.”

And after getting this you will have to try until you succeed! And feel free to share your valuable comment with us.
