What is a Nandroid Backup?
Nandroid backup is a full backup (each and everything) of your Android device. For giving a familiar name to the backup the name “Nandroid” used which emerges from NAND flash. So, i would like to clarify that suppose if you are using a rooted android device and many times you are testing a different ROM on your device, what will be if you bricked your android device or anything breaks during the ROM installation. At that drastic time the OS backup file plays a resuscitative role and will help you to restore the previous ROM on your android device successfully.


Once you have created a Nandroid Backups, you will be able to save yourself from these following:
  • When you unwittingly load malware onto your device
  • Incidental loss of personal data and other files
  • Non-responding Android system (eg: various crashes or a failed flash attempt)
How to take Nandroid Backup via CWM or TWRP recoveries 
How to take Nandroid Backup via CWM (clock work mod) or TWRP (team win recovery project) recoveries, you should have a rooted android device with CWM Recovery or TWRP recovery.  After flashing a custom recovery onto your device, you will have to boot your android device in recovery mode for using the recovery feature and to start the backup process. 

On the recovery menu, make a click on the option of Backup to start the nandroid backup process and similarly click on restore option to backup file on your android device as shown in below screenshot.
